Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi saw an unprecedented success in India with its all previous launches in India, be it budget phone Redmi 1S which is always out of stock or premium Mi3 or Redmi Note which was launched this December. Company is increasing its share of market by each launch and to continue its uphill march, they have announced to launch their next flagship smartphone Mi4 today on 28 January 2015.
Like their previous Mi series launch, this smartphone will have powerful hardware with crisp display and note-worthy optical capacity. The phone has a full HD 5.0-inch (1920x1080p) display screen with Sharp / JDI OGS (One Glass Solution) full lamination giving pixel density of around 441 ppi (pixels per inch). On the other hand, it will have 8MP front camera with Sony IMX219 80 degree wide angle lense. The primary camera on rear has 13.0-megapixel Sony IMX214 with 6 element lens, f1.8 aperture, real-time HDR, 4K video recording, CMOS sensor, 0.3-second auto-focus feature.
It has 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series processor and have Adreno 330 GPU, will come with 16GB and 32GB variant in India. Overall , its a slim phone with 139.2 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm of dimension weighing just 149 grams. Best part is that it supports both 3G as well as faster LTE ie. 4G. The price of 16GB version is expected to be less than Rs. 20,000 in India.
With launch of this phone, Mi4 will give direct competition to likes of OnePlus One which follows same strategy as of Xiaomi in terms of premium phones at mid range price bracket. Certainly they have changed the Indian premium handset market, lets see what comes next.
