Something new for the Android and iOS users, Blackberry the premium player in the Smartphone industry has wrapped off the covers from it’s latest plans which confirms that Blackberry will open up it’s free Blackberry Messenger service to Apple iPhone and Android based smartphone users.
From the Sources, we came to know that this step has been initiated by the Canadian handset maker in the vision to rehabilitate it’s brand. It is a proprietary Internet-based instant messenger and video telephony application included on BlackBerry devices that allows messaging and video calls between BlackBerry users. As per the market statistics, from the past year there is a huge increment recorded in the list of Apple iOS and Android users. Mostly all the android or apple iOS users make the use of Whats App applications in passing messages or transfer you personalized videos.
Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry’s chief executive, told the company’s annual developers conference in Orlando on Tuesday that the move reflected his confidence that the BlackBerry 10 platform had become strong enough since its launch at the end of January to “stand on its own two feet”.
“This is a statement of confidence,” he said. “We knew we had to get through the last year and BBM was a major reason why people chose BlackBerry. We decided now was the right time to make BBM a multi-platform service and build on the 60m users we already have.”
It will be interesting to see how Android and iOS users will respond to this messenger service but it can have negative impact on those BBM users who were sticking to their BlackBerry just because the cake of BlackBerry Messenger, now they may need not to stick to BlackBerry phone to use BBM, they can switch any other device easily. But on the other hand, it may increase BBM popularity as existing BBM users may want their non-BlackBerry phone users to try new BlackBerry Messenger which will be available for iOS and Android soon.
